different breed of dog

to start I live in upsate south carolina.from what I understand our coyotes are a little bigger than other places,35-60 lbs.I shot my 1st yesterday,just over 40 lbs and black.top of back to tip of nose black,underside dark grey.under fur blackish grey.thought it was a dog a first till I got a good look at through my scope.my 22 hornett dropped him in his tracks at 125 yards.top teeth extended to the bottom of his lower jaw.boy did it look wicked. :D

so.................... where's the pictures???   What part of South Carolina do you hunt?  (generally speaking of course).  I vacation at Kiawah Island and was wondering if I should be bringing a rifle instead of a fishing rod...

Is it possible that you have shot a coydog?  I've shot them up here is SD, they're coyotes that run with domestic dogs that have been released and gone wild, it's a nasty combination, when crossed with a big German Shepherd it can be down right nasty looking.
