Ruger BH in 41 Mag.
« on: November 02, 2004, 04:25:52 PM »
I have a chance to acquire a RBH in 41 Mag. w/ 4-5/8" bbl. The condition is good. I would like some general information about this caliber, I have previously owned a 45lc in this setup, but I have not looked at a 41 before. Also, a general idea as to the price of a used one. Thanks

jlk, is it the NMBH? I have one in 6 1/2" bbl, its my second one. Let the last one go during a brain freeze! The other one was ported but this one is not. I have a problem with the stock ruger grips so put a set of pachmyer on it they ate a hole in my hand. Got a set of Hogue grips with the finger grips they work fine.  Are you going to load for it or store bought? There isant a real lot of store bought for this cal. I cast and load for mine. I even made up some "snake shot loads", for the buzz tails. Mine goes with me in the field, wheiter Iam fishing, or gold panning. It capable of taking care of anything that crawls, walks on 4 or 2. Dont think I would try it on a grizz, but then again dont have any here.

It is a new model and I will load for it. I have just never looked at a .41 as I have always shot the .44's and .45's. It will be a carry around backup kinda gun. I have Encore's in 7-08, 308 and 500 S&W that I hunt with.

Grab it.  You will love it.  Carry my 41 lots more than the 44 or 45.  I have light lights for mine and heavy loads.  The 4 5/8" barrel is awesome handling and accurate.

Well, depending on what kind of condition it's in I wouldn't go over $275-$300 for one that's like new. I just picked up one for a project. It had a little chip in the grip, otherwise it was 98% with just a ghost of a turn line. I paid $250 for it. If the price is right, buy it, you'll enjoy it. :-)
