Meuller Scope owners, opinions please.

Hello and thanks for the input.  A new Tikka Whitetail Hunter 30-06 will be arriving next week, and I am shopping for scopes.  Right now it's down to the Monarch, VXII, and Conquest.  The Meuller red dot sure has caught my eye, and I was looking for any input and comparisons out there.  The price on the Meuller sure is nice.  Thanks for the  info.

Here's GB's review of the 4-16x50 Sport Dot. I have this scope and an Eraticator, both are excellent scopes compared to some more expensive scopes.

I have the 4-16x50 on my Encore 25-06 barrel. I've got about 75 shots down it so far and it's working fine. I like the "dot" without the red turned on. That little suspended dot works well for varmint shooting.

No complaints, just works well so far.

for a 30-06....this would be my order....

1. Conquest
2. Monarch
3. Bushnell Elite 4200
4. Leupold Vari XIII
5. Weaver Grand Slam

If price is an issue....the Nikon Buckmaster line is great, I just bought one, and I am very pleased

My list of cheaper scopes (if a zeiss is not an option) would be:

1. Nikon Monarch
2. Bushnell Elite 4200
3. Nikon Buckmaster
4. Weaver Glam Slam

All cost about $300, or are in that price area depending on the models, but they are all vary reliable scope (or so I have heard about all of them)

Lawdog loves his Elites
Jon at the OpticZone loves his Nikons
and I have not heard a whole lot about Weaver's, but they make very reliable/nice scopes for target shooting, and the rimfire series is very nice, so I would exoect the same from their Grand Slam series

The Buckmaster has great light transmission for the price, and comes in some great hunting variable powers.....

hope all of this helps in your decision.....you should love your new rifle, I have heard great things about Tikka's!! (Especially the Whitetail Hunters edition, that has been discontinued!!) :(

I am not saying a Mueller is a bad scope at all, its just it has a few things that dont seem to fit a 30-06 well......for one thing it has a 2 piece tube, it has a dot, which I dont think would be very helpful for deer hunitng, etc (but GREAT for varmints)......and personally, when that trophy buck of a lifetime walks out.....would you rather have a zeiss or a mueller atop your new gun??

1. Fact: The Mueller 3-10x44 is a "one" piece tube
2. Fact: We have "not" had one return due to problems relating to any of our two-piece tubes.
3. Fact: The red dot plays a "huge" role in low light hunting conditons and also aids in "quicker" tarket aqusition. I tested a high dollar scope in a swamp a few weeks ago and with 3 minutes of legal shooting light left, the cross hairs were no longer visable and blended in with the background. By illuminating a red dot would of solved the problem and offered me shot placement.
4. Fact: Mueller also has a non-red dot 3-10x44 in a "one" piece tube.
5.  Fact: The test results By ShotgunWorld were just complete on our new 2-7x32 Multi-Shot scope. It passed many tests that some of the above mentioned brand names did not.
6. Mueller is gaining its reputation by offering a higher quality scope at a more "affordable" price and yes, they are reliable.

I totally agree with all the above statements.......but

A very well-respected man at RFC (OLDSWEDE) did a side by side comparision and these were his results:

A comparison between Leupolds (Vari X III), Bushnell Elite 4200, Mueller 8.5-25x50 Eraticator, and Simmons WTC18......his results said that the Mueller is by far the best "bang for your buck".......however, he did state (for the light transmission) that the mueller came in third (if I remember correctly)

I believe his order for light transmission was:
1. Bushnell Elite 4200
2/3. Luepold Vari X III/Mueller
4. Simmons WTC18

Just trying to help......

If you have the money I would go for a Zeiss, if not, Then a nikon......

But for a varmint gun, a mueller would be one of the scopes at the top of my list!!

I will soon be the owner of a mueller scope, and I am hoping they are as good as I have heard!! (I want to put it on either an HMR or HM2....should be a winning combo!!)
