Loads for .45 cal. CVA Firebolt Magnum?
« on: October 24, 2004, 12:58:10 PM »
I have a .45 cal. CVA Firebolt Magnum and I intend to use the 225 gr. CVA Power Belt bullets and Hodgdon triple seven powder.  Can anyone recommend what charge weight of powder to use?  The canister shows loads for the .50 and .54 cals., but none for the .45.  Is there another powder you would recommend?  Thanks....

Hey I just ordered a CVA hunterbolt 45 cal.  Got it for about a $100 delivered from Midway.  I am interested in the results you get from the powerbelts.  A buddy of mine shoots a scoped 50 cal CVA hunterbolt and is getting 1" groups at 100yds with powerbelts.  Most of the stuff I have seen in 45 or 50 loads  with 777 seems to be in the 80 to 110 grain range while still getting decent accuracy but each rifle is different.  You using loose powder or pellets?  I haven't seen 45cal 777 pellets around here yet.  If loose powder I probably would start around 75 grains and work up.  I am planning to try the 275gr powerbelts too.

FWIW, I shoot 120gr 2f T7 and a 275gr Powerbelt in a .45 cal CVA Staghorn, shoots great 1.5"-2" groups at 100yds.
