Got 17M2 Bolt and Barrel today from EABCO!! *Updated!
« on: November 02, 2004, 11:01:19 AM »
Got the kit today and already installed the new bolt and Barrel...pretty easy....actually a no brainer using their instructions...Took about 15 minutes....cleaned it up spick and span on the inside and oiled it up when it went back together. actually it was pretty dirty as I had never cleaned up the thing since I've had it..  I need to get some rings and I'm good to go...got a new 4.5-14 ATV scope to mount on it. I had one set of rings but they are the low style dang it and the scope hit the barrel....had clearance on the standard contour barrel....Hoping it will be a good shooting rig... I got some pics but too stupid to post them...will post additional info after testing... :D  May have old carbine stock and old standard contour barrel for sale later if anyone is interested....

Deadeye: My undrstanding was that EABCO supplied you with a barrel and a weighted bolt handle? You said you got a bolt? Care to give a few more details, like how it shoots!!! Good Luck:   Duce:

Yes...geeze I've really screwed this post up...it's not like I haven't posted anything before...sorry guys.....EABCO sent me a barrel and a larger weighted bolt handle. I'm was hoping to find some higher rings and get the scope mounted but this small town might be a waste of time... The .920 barrel (that sure is an itty bitty hole at the end of that barrel! ) doesn't have any iron sights so I might just go to the range and run a few through it to check for function only.... I'll post again if I get any jams or whatever....It looks pretty sharp...I got it mounted in one of the  Butler Creek synthetic stocks with the built in bipods... if anyone can receive a couple pic's and post them for me I'll show what it looks like ..

Got a set of rings and mounted the scope....got the thing on the paper and is close as I can get it to POA.....it was pretty darn windy today left to right at the range so the groups were not really very good. Also I'm definitely got to do something about the trigger on that rifle! Other than that Not one Failure to fire or feed or any Hickup what so ever out of 50 rounds...even dumped a mag pretty quick and no problems . SWEET!!! So.... if anyone else is thinking of getting one of these kits from EABCO.... Looks like it's going to be a Good Product.

I just got one yesterday.  Same here.  It went together well and feeds from my mags without a hitch.  It even feeds well from those evil 25 and 30 round mags!   Haven't gotten to shoot it yet.  Hopefully this saturday after my goose hunt.  I will probably have a Savage MkII bolt action in 17HM2 for sale shortly.

Doc T please post your results...my groups were running about 1" to 1-1/2 or so at 50 yards....There was a pretty stiff wind that day too so know that it should shoot better with still or milder conditions..also my trigger really needs some work or replacing....that may come next. pretty cool rig though..have fun!!

Hey guys, I am really interested in the EABCO kit for the HM2. I was wondering if you two-and any others who have them-would follow up with some test results. I would like to know how accurate the barrels are and how you like the HM2 shell? I've only found 1 other supplier that is making this conversion from the 10/22 and they were way to expensive for my budget. Thanks for any info you can give!

I only got to shoot it a little but it looks good so far.  Shot it a 20yds to get it roughly sighted in.  When I finally walked the shots in the bull, I shot a group of 3.  I thought I was missing the bull on the second and third shot.  Closer inspection showed one very small ragged hole.  This was off the tailgate of my truck without a sand bag.  Hope to do some serious bench shooting with sand bags soon.
