Coon Trapping???
« on: October 25, 2004, 10:12:00 AM »
First time here on the trapping sight but I need help. I have coons tearing everything up on my deer feeders. I have bought 3 live traps and they are working good but at 60.00 each. I have 14 feeders on the ranch, also quail hunt around these feeders with dogs so steel traps won't work. ANY IDEAS?

Thanks

welcome to the site
there is a few differnt  types of dog-proof coon traps on the market , snares would work too.

If its legal in your state make some coniber sets up in some trees close to your feeders. Make a trail of fish oil or maple sryup from your feeder to the tree. Have your conibear wired to a branch high enough so dogs can't reach it with your trailing scent going up the branch and past the trap. Any coon around will follow the scent to the tree and will walk through the conibear. Snares would also work. Worm
