Any one who has a flintlock from TVM, or any gun for that matter made by them....what is your experience with them? Are they quality... would you all recommend one? I am interested with their Southern Rifle (Not Poor Boy-but slightly fancier... slight wood engraving and patch box-iron). Common boys, let me hear what you think! I would like a historically correct rifle but want one this workin man can afford!

Norseman-Do you mean Tennessee Valley Arms? If so, they're great folks to do business with. Quality parts and good service--you can't do better than that.

OOOPS. I meant Tennessee Valley Muzzleloading (TVM)-just double checked. Anyway how is their quality in guns?

I have a TVM Late Lancaster in .54 cal. I love it. It's very accurate and looks great as well. I have had no problems with it. I bought it used so shortly after I got it I had Anson Morgan at Kenockee Tradin Post inspect it and all was well. I should say that it is my first and only BP rifle so far so I havent had a lot of experience with other guns.

If you have a nosecap on your firearm-insist that they pin or screw it on.
Their epoxy/glued nosecaps can fall off-been there.
Also insist that the flintlock is tuned-also been there.

All, I have own 4 of their rifles and a pistol. The workmanship is excellent and the parts are of the highest quality. I have built muzzle loaders for the last 30 years and I find for the price you will not find a better value. They are good people to deal with. Tryit.

I have an Early Virginia from TVM. I bought it after Matt Avance took over and he did well.

I asked for a heavy Colerain in .54 and a Jim Chambers roundface lock. It shoots well. Although there are some small flaws that some guys might get upset about, but they don't bother me.

For under $1000 you can have TVM fix you up with a gun that sports all the components of a $5,000 gun - the only difference between yours and the pricier one will be engraving. But the performance will be the same.
