White film on stock

I have a M77 300win mag. synthetic stock and have had it in the woods about 3 seasons. I keep my gun in a case that has silica packs in it. What my problem is, is the stock and forearm has a white film all over it. The first time it done this, I put petroleum jelly on it. A week later, same thing. I then put armor-all on my gun and yet again the same thing; white film. Can someone tell me what this is and how I can fix this problem, or even if I can.

I have seen this before on different synthetic products, not just gun stocks. My experience has been a mold growth of sorts. The surface might have enough pores to hold the mold and prevent you from killing it. Try chlorine bleach in a small area and see if that helps. Otherwise, contact ruger and see if they'll replace it.

Get it out of that gun case and let it breathe. It's way to humid here in Bama to keep guns in cases especially if it is one of the zip up kind most commonly used. Store it where air can circulate around it.
