How about a Handi in .500?

Was just perusing the Sports South inventory and this jumped out at me.  Of course, it shows 0 in inventory, but talk about getting my interest:

I didn't see it on the H&R site so maybe it's a misprint, but I do know that 2 months ago, it wasn't on this page.....

WOW!!!, What a brush gun. I think it would be great on hogs and black bear also...It looks as if it's in the works guys...Just think, they tell us about the .17Mach2 and the .204 Ruger and then they don't come for months. Now we see this one cataloged and no one has heard even a rumor about it coming out.:shock: !!!....<><.... :grin:

Now what do we have to do to get some .500 S&W Max brass??? :-D

What that means is that it would be no problem for H&R to build a Handi in .50-70 -- or .500 Alaskan.

Check the list again, there are a few new shotguns as well. Semi-auto 12 gauge and what might be an over/under 12 and 20 gauge models called the Pinnacle.

These are at the top of the list when H&R is searched as the manufacturer. Item numbers 14118 through 14121 and 14124,14126,14130and 14131.

Hope this wasn't posted in the shotgun forum as I haven't read that far yet tonight.

What kind of pressures does that round produce? Are they making a stronger action to handle it? If they are I sure would like to have a Handi in .223 wssm. :?

Last months Shooting times did a evaluation on the short barreled Smith 500 with the 2 muzzel brakes...think they said 60,000 psi for the rounds they were testing...

a popular bumper around here is "Teddy's car has killed more people than my guns have".

I was talking with a friend yesterday who has to go and work today with this guy we both know who is the ONLY democrat we know around here. The big question we all have around here is how in the heck does this darn state have so many democratic voters if we only know ONE between us???....<><.... :grin:

They are either all closet queen democrat voters or only the people in the city areas are democrats....

Don't get to excited guys, the bore dia would be .500 rather than the much more useful .510 required for 50-70 or my personnal favorites 500 BPE or 577/500 #2 Exp.  Now if we could get the Huntsman barrel without the machine work for the removable breach that would be something to play with and I would soon have an NEF single shot in the afore mentioned 577/500#2.  Pass me a napkin, I'm salivating all over the keyboard!

Is the handi action strong enough for 50,000 psi operating pressures?Why don't they offer more chamberings that their customers want.I know everybody around here wants a 300 short mag.The handi would be a great low cost rifle for somebody who would like to take advantage of this chambering,but maybe cannot afford one the expensive bolt actions.

I would think that if the Handi was strong enough to handle 50k psi, we'd have some magnum calibers available.
