SP-101 Grip panel material????????
« on: November 04, 2004, 01:57:22 PM »
Does anyone know if Ruger made wooden grip panels for the SP-101? I just aquired a supply of Ruger stuff from a gun shop going under and included was beautiful grip panels with precision fitted screw hardware for the SP-101.

I seem to recall that they were available in the Goncalo materil but not as stcok inserts.  Lett Grips, the OEM maker for Ruger offered them in a number of materials.  They're not difficult to make because of thier simplicity. Still, a nice set does spruce up the little guns though.  Sound like a good find.

There is a special SP model shown on Ruger's website right now with wood inserts and TG finish------so yes-- they do offer them for the SP's.

I think the compact grip(fixed sight models) GP100 panels will fit the SP too.

Grip Panels for SP101

FYI, I just bought a nice set from an eBay seller.  Do a search on "SP101" and you'll probably see more for sale.  I had to pop out the ferrule and nut from the old plastic panels, but that wasn't a problem, and they look awesome on it.  The fit was SUPERB.

No, it doesn't make the SP101 shoot or handle any better, but looks always did count for a lot when dealing with firearms (or women!).   8)

True, but you never wake up next to an ugly firearm.  :)
