375 JDJ mould
« on: October 21, 2004, 02:23:46 PM »
Does any one here cast for the 375 JDJ contender? What would be a good mould? On the economy end, i was wondering if the lee 375, 38/55 mould would work. It seems the bullet my be a bit big- .379- but i guess it could be sized down? Thanks- Tad

You did not indicate what you were trying to accomplish.

Lee is the only economy mold that I'm aware of and with older rifles .379 is not unreasonable.  you could always re-size down to 376 or 377 should work fine in your T/C.

Then you have RCBS and Lyman molds to consider as intermediate in cost.  Greater variety in bullet design is available thru NEI at http://www.neihandtools.com/  look at page 7 & 8.

Good luck

I have 2 moulds in .376-a  245gr BRGC and a 290gr LFNGC ,these I shoot in a 375GNR same ballistics as the 375 JDJ.
The 375 GNR is a 45-70 necked down in a TC Encore -14" bll. Both of the moulds came from Dan at mountainmolds.
If you want to try some you pay shipping I will send you 30-40 each these are water dropped /WW hardness-BHN 24.
Is the JDJ on a 30-06 or 444 case.

Sean, I find this very interesting as  I was thinking about a LFN mould for my 375JDJ Contender. Care to talk it up?

Thanks, Ed
