I am new to this forum and would like to know from people that have them how they like the new stampede? I have shot the 45acp 1911 all my life.

I bought a new Beretta Stampede in 45 Colt with a 7.5" barrel shortly after they came out. I got the standard blue model that came with cheapie plastic grips. After I put a set of Hogue wood grips on the gun, it really enhanced looks and feel.

The Stampede has a very nice trigger, fit and finish are very good, and it shoots decent groups. It is a Colt clone and is not intended for the hot loads that will work in a Ruger. The Stampede does have a transfer bar making it safe to carry all 6 chambers loaded.

I'm leaning toward one also.  I like my Rugers as hunting guns, but when I put on a gun to just walk and enjoy the woods with, it has to be SAA size.  And it will make a carry gun having the transfer bar.  Trying to decide if my next gun will be a Stampede or a USFA Rodeo.  44 Man

44 Man, That was the decision I was faced with. Both are excellent buys. My local dealer just happened to have a Stampede in stock when I had money in my pocket. You really can't go wrong with either one.

Well, I went with the stampede and I love it already, other than I am looking for grips. They suck. The rest of the gun is nice!! Thank you guys for you're input.

luv45, I bought the Pau ferro Hogue grips made for a colt. They are a bit oversized so some sanding is required. Brownell's sells them for $39.95,
P/N 408-651-100. See http://www.brownells.com/aspx/NS/store/ProductDetail.aspx?p=6939&title=SINGLE+ACTION+GRIPS

They look and feel great!

Thanks for the link Iowegan, I will be on them. I can' t believe they would put those grips on such a fine gun.

I bought the same Stampede as Iowegan for my son. He absolutely loves shooting that gun. I like everything about it except the grips. The fit and finish was very good and it shoots as good as my Vaquero. Obviously, it is not built as rugged as a Ruger but, it sure carrys good.

I, too, love my Rugers but this is one nice piece at a fair price.

luv45 ...

Glad to hear you like the Stampede. What barrel length did you get?

Do you reload? If you do not reload, it is my opinion that the .45 lc would be a great starting caliber for you to learn with. Straight wall cartridges are pretty easy to load for with a carbide die set. The .45 lc is my favorite caliber as there are so many things you can get out of it by reloading. You can "cowboy" load or you can load 'em heavy though you should not load them too heavy to use in your Stampede. My son likes a 200 gr cast rn-fp bullet loaded up to around 850 fps with Unique powder. We also just had our gunsmith slick up the trigger action and it is even sweeter now.

Have fun and share your enjoyment of a sixshooter with others.

Hi Bigjeepman.

I have dies that I have had forever that I haven't used on the 45lc yet. I reload all my rifle. When I was younger I had quite a few single actions. I shot enough then that had got real good with them. I was really surpised after all these years I can still pull it and fire and hit my target without using the sites. I will take all the advise I can get for reloading for it. I am disabled now and spend a lot of time on my 4 wheeler. I live in Island Park Idaho. Spend a lot of time in Wolf Bear and Cat area's.
