Take all necessary steps towards safety, no matter if it takes longer or if it is expensive, at the end it will be faster and cheaper.

Don't blame the rifle for these type of injuries.  Blame the shooter for not practicing proper safe loading procedures.  Also don't blame the action as side levers and break barrels have also accounted for many injuries.  The Beeman HW 77 & 97 both load the same way as the Chinese under levers.  What I would like to see is someone invent a loading device/tool that would load the pellet and keep the thumb/finger out of the way.  Lawdog
