Gentlmen: Yesterday (Sat.) was the opening day of gun season here in Hoosier land. I've got my usual opening day head cold, and having other responsabilities had to hunt on my farm. With Ol'blue in hand (12ga. Tracker II, that the previous owner had painted sky blue for some reason)
headed out ot my tree stand. I jumped 2 deer on the way out, honestly my day was shaping up nicely. Just as it was getting light enough to see, I watched as 4 does fed across the a picked cornfield, later a button buck (educated guess) tracked after them, nose to the ground like a beagle after a rabbit. Then about 8 AM a 4 point ambles along about 150 yds out, or so I thought, I knew it would be a long shot but I had sighted in dead on at 100yds. and knew what the drop should be and I had a solid rest. Well the best layed plans, shot over his back!!!! After a thorough search and no blood, came to the conclusion that estimating range in and open field is tougher than in the woods. That evening I took up my stand again a little dejected about my failure, but the about 5:30 I heard footsteps towards the house from me, marching right out from under me is a spike buck. Ol'blue didn't do well with my failure to estimate correctly, but 50 yds. is one of those yawn things. So now there's fresh meat seasoning out just a little out in the barn. I know Ol'blue is a shotgun, but with a full rifled barrel don't tell her that!!! Good Luck:  Duce:
