Coyotes in Southern NY...What gun??

I cant use regular centerfire, so Im stuck on rimfire/muzzleloading/shotgun.  What would you use?   The dogs have invaded my deer hunting area, and they will have to go.  

I life in a no rifle zone  :cry:

At what distance and under what conditions will you be hunting. I have carried both a shotgun and .22 Mag for coyotes. It all depends on the shooting circumstances....<><.... :grin:

Actually I can use a rifle, but not during any deer season.  So now that I know that, this is what I have available:  270 win, and a SKS 7.62.  How are these for coyotes?  I reload for the 270, so I could "varmitize" a load.  What would you all suggest?

The distance would be <200 yards, and Id like to keep the pelts

Then get you something like a .22 Hornet, .221 Fireball, .222 Rem., etc. as neither of your stated choices(.270 win, SKS 7.62) are what you would call "pelt friendly".  I use a .22 Hornet to take coyotes out to 175(+/-) yards all the time.  Good excuse to get another rifle.  Lawdog
