Can any (currently legal for waterfowl) non-toxic shot be used in an older gun that is not labelled for steel shot?  I have a winchester model 91 O/U that I would love to use for ducks and geese, but I don't want to ruin it.  Can bismuth or tungsten be used without harm?  Any other suggestions?

The Bismuth is fine.  As far as tungsten goes, as long as it is the tungsten/polymer matrix you will be ok.  The other tungsten loads are too hard.  I shoot bismuth in a Winchester '97.
