HELP!!!

I was given a LARGE lot of powder by a client and was wondering if any of you have ever used old powder. Some of this stuff is truly "vintage", but some of it is in the original plastic containers and is "recent".

Also, does anybody have an interest in the older containers? I would be willing to let them go for postage if there is a collector out there.

I am currently finshing some old surplus 4831 what I picked up in the late 60's. Works great according to my Crony.

Good powder smells of acetone and bad powder has a strong acid reek to it. Bad powder also usually shows a red or orange dust. If it smells all right and looks all right, shoot it.

Age don't matter much to powder. Heat does. If it has been allowed to get too hot, it goes bad rapidly. Stored properly, powder can last a very long time.

I'm still shooting Hodgon from cardboard boxes, and Alcan from the '60s myself.

Powder stored properly will last decades. I purchased a supply of powder from a deceased gunsmith's estate and included were some old square Hurcules cans of Unique. The stuff shot fine and when the can was empty, it went on Ebay.
