Ruger M77 MKII .223 Twist Rate?
« on: January 26, 2003, 07:39:56 AM »
I posted this in the Ruger section, but figured maybe I'd get help quicker here.

Ruger 77 All-Weather stainless steel, new stock.  Does anyone know the twist-rate of that Ruger uses on these .223's?

Thanks,
Steve

Hi 480:

I did the old cleaning rod test on my M77 MkII VT in .223 and seems to be 1:12 twist. The same model in 22-250 is 1:14.

Put a cleaning patch on your cleaning rod, make a mark on it, push it in until the rod makes one full revolution, make another mark. Measure between the two marks. That's about a scientific as I get!
