Would you buy an Ultra in 17 Remington if it were available?
I haven't owned a H&R in years, but would buy one in 17 Remington as soon as it came available.

jgalar if I may include in your thread a complementary question...:money:

Could you take a 17 Rem reamer to a 17 HMR barrel, swap the extractor over for the applicable one and fit it to a centrefire frame?

Due to the 17 Rem being a centerfire round and the 17HMR being a rimfire the firing pin would be off quite a bit. Somebody could probably do it but the cost would be too much. :D

bang_off, what you propose is possible. The barrel for a .17 HMR is centerbored (although the .17 HMR cartridge is rimfire). My .17 HMR barrel fits and locks up great on 2 of my SB2 recievers. So it appears if the barrel was rechambered for the .17 Remington, fitted to a centerfire frame and the proper extractor fitted it would work. It should cost no more than any other rechambering that needed an extractor fitted...<><....

 :?

The cost of reaming or fitting the extractor? wouldn't the extractor be a "slide in" replacement?

TIA!

Exstracter - ejecter For 17 Rem
« Reply #7 on: February 18, 2005, 09:42:44 AM »
I think you can get the ejecter from Brownell for a 223, that will slide in May have to modify the end of barrel for the 223 ejecter. I had to do that
 when I recamber a 22 Hor. to a 219 Zipper, got a 30-30 ejecter from
Brownell's  $8 or $9. cut grove in barrel with Moto- Tool Took a bout Ten Minutes. Marv.

The Falk rd BiMart has one, I've been temped to buy another, this one has great looking wood, not laminated, but the older style with lots of figure compared to what we usually see, also has an ultra rail on it...$199.99.
