Favorite 25-06 mold ????
« on: November 21, 2004, 07:35:17 AM »
Looking to purchase a mold in this caliber to help a very good friend. Note, He only shoots 100 yards, and presently shoots 95-110 gr. jacketed boatails.

Thank you all in advance!

The RCBS 100 grain RFGC has always worked for me. We have a group buy Lee six hole 80 grain RFGC on order and a few of those are still available. You can take a look at the drawings for it by searching this forum for .25-20 Mould.

25-06 Cast bullet
« Reply #2 on: November 22, 2004, 03:00:50 PM »
I have the Saeco #257 that is a 100 grain bullet with a gas check.  I cast it with wheelweights and 2% tin and lube it with Javelina (50/50 Beeswax/Alox).    I load it with 25 grains of IMR 4227 and it leaves the barrel at a chronographed velocity of 2245 fps (5 shout average).

My best 100 yard group of 3 shots is .87" from my Ruger M77   2 other groups measured 1.25" and 1.37" 3 shots each.

I have loaded and fired 725 of the bullets in the 25-06.  Technically, it is supposed to be too long for my Contender 10" barrel .256 Win Mag, but that is not true.  It shoots well in that gun too.

Sorry for the delay in my response,,,,

I forgot to add I would be looking for a G/C mold. My friend tends to push the envelope when it comes to F.P.S. !!!!!!!!

Leftoverdj,,,Thanks for the offer on the .25-20, but as you can see I failed to give you the entire story. The RCBS mold looks like a good bet!

haroldclark,,,I've been a in love with the SAECO line for years,,,,might give that a good look-see also.

Checking my Lyman sheets I see that the #257312 and #257418 might be promising.?.?.?

Any more words out there???

This is a terrific forum! Graybeard, you should be proud!

Thanks again in advance!  :)
