Can I use Gun-Scrubber?  I don't see any mention of petroleum on the can.  Thanks    Steve

I think that's why they call it "GUN scrubber".  It can't hurt.  I myself have used engine degreaser before.  A friend gave me an old springfield double barrel that had sit in a closet for 30 years and was a total mess.  Rusted, pitted and greasy.  I stripped it apart, degreased, hand rubbed with steel wool, re-blued and refinished the stock a nice hunter green.  Turned out beautiful. I could tell by the look in his eye he was sorry he gave it away...he ain' gettin it back either!!

I've used that product to clean a Swedish 6.5x55mm mil-surp carbine and it did a great job of cutting the cosmoline.  If you're comcerned about leaving a residue, I don't believe it's necessary, but swabbing the bore with rubbing alcohol before loading is a good, final step to get rid of any traces of oils before loading.
