I had the same problem when I first started shooting my Encore no matter what I did it allways bit my finger..  I then invested in a custom stock set from VVCG for it and haven't been cut since...  They had me send in an outline of my hand and I guess that helped me out.  Of course I ain't shooting a 450 marlin...  That just sounds painfull... hehehe oh and welcome...

One thing that will help is to stiffen the trigger guard spring. Makes the gun a little harder to open but I havn't found it to be a problem. I went to the hardware store and bought some various sized springs and found the heaviest one that would fit without binding. It actualy fits over the stock spring so that there are twosprings, one inside the other. The reason I did this is I found that under the severe recoil of the 450, the trigger guard wants to rock backward as the gun recoils upward. I had problems with a 10" 45/70 barrel wanting to open durring recoil. Figured out that the trigger guard was actually taping the locking lugs as it rocked back. Stiffened up the spring and it cured it. This probably wont cure your problem but it will lessen it some. I don't put my weak hand index or middle fingers behind the trigger guard any more when shooting the big ones just for this reason.  KN

First off thank you all for your responses I hold it left handed right hand supporting  most of the time right hand index finger rides on the side of the frame. I think I my be not holding it tight enough when it bites  I know the grip which is wood may be to big for my hands . My son shoots the 454 with the rubber grip but has bigger hands has not got bit so far I have tried the grip on my frame seems to take alot of the bite out  I also will have to look into the extra spring in the trigger guard  I have six barrels 22Hornet 223 ,44mag 7mm 08 454  450 marlin and the marlin is the one that likes to bite even with the brake  I guess its time to have some grips made again thks  MePlat and KN also 22 Hornet
