casing sticks in handi help!
« on: November 23, 2004, 12:23:57 PM »
i know about the no oil in the chamber, but i was hunting in a driving rain today and had a chance to shoot A BIG doe. but i mmmmmmiiiiissssed. to make it worse she never even moved and my casing hung up so i could not back it up. besides the chamber being clean what do you think about notching the area above the ejector so you could at least get a pocket knife tip in there to help pull the shell out. i had no tools with me and had to go all the way home to remedy the prob. any thoughts on the notching?

Did you ever consider a short brass rod to drop down the barrell to knock it out ? They are easy to carry with ammo. :D

Like riverjackal said, a short brass rod to drop down the barrel works great.   But, if you have the time and skill then go with Fred M’s suggestions by all means.   That man knows his stuff.
