Flipping through the channels
« on: January 11, 2005, 02:38:31 AM »
I was just going through the channels a day or 2 ago, and mistakenly stopped for a bit on one of the cable news channels like CNN or such (I don't remember which one). They had an interview of a couple of Palestinian representatives and they both started speaking of the "tsunami" of Isreali occupation. The interviewer made a bit of a face and politely told them it was a bad representation of their situation, but they stuck with it. What level will those whiners stoop (or grovel) to in order to stir up sympathy and public support? I personally found it extremely offensive, and would suspect that this particular strategy would hurt their cause more than help. Did anyone else see this and do you think it will really be effective outside of their current support base?

The terrorist mentality is that of a cornered cat lashing out in psychotic desperation. It matters not if there is anything actually cornering it, or at what it lashes out. All that matters is that it must perpetuate its own self-image as a martyr willing to die for some lofty ideal, fighting against a cruel and oppressive tyrant, or else risk going back out into the mainstream, undisturbed (an uninteresting) cat population, so to speak. No war and no cause means no axe to grind, no international attention, no subversive and twisted sympathy, no inflated sense of self-importance. If that means they have to paint some entity (Israel, USA, Western Powers, Russia, etc.) as the cruel oppressor to make the whole fantasy work, then so be it. If that means they have to mow down thousands of innocents at a single stroke in the name of so-called martyrdom, so be it. The whole lot couldn't pass a psyche exam on a bet.
There is no more humbling experience for man than to be fully immersed in nature's artistry.

"this particular strategy would hurt their cause more than help."
THAT's what they do best!     It's true that they "never miss an opportunity to miss an opportunity".  To me, they've completely blown any legitimacy of their "cause".
