Steve, you never know what kinda' hog you'll encounter down here. About 400 years ago, the Spanish Explorers brought in what they called "Spanish Herding Hogs" from Havana. These hogs had long legs compared to other European breeds, and were easily herded along as the Explorers moved thru Florida and all over the Southeast US. Many of those first hogs esecaped into the swamps here in Florida. They've been breeding and cross-breeding with feral pigs ever since. IF you come across one, you'll sure know it. These animals are like mini tanks and are extremely dangerous, with razor sharp tusks that will rip you open from the ankles to the waist in a split second. IF they get you on the ground, you'll be ripped apart.
A 12ga shotgun with full bore slugs or specialty loads like three 58 caliber musket balls in a single shell will drop'em if you can hit'em.
