« on: December 06, 2004, 04:21:03 PM »
Hey guys, anybody here know anything about the 702 Plinkster .22 LR,made by,or at least it has their name,Mossberg?I noticed one at Wally World today for $89.Also looked at the Savage Mark II,fxp? .22LR (Bolt)w/scope.One thing I did notice on the 702 is that it accepts 3/8 scope rings.Thinking about one for Feb. tree rat hunting............Rick

i have both rifles! the mosberg is stock, and shoots ok. but the savage! wow! i put an aftermarket trigger on it from rifle basics, and its very accurate!
my wife and i shoot rimfire benchrest matches. she has an anchutz 54. and i have a winchester mod. 52 heavy barrel. the savage is almost as accurate as the bench guns! my club wont start a sporter class, or i would be cleaning up!
savage rifles are known for being accurate, but i got lucky and got a really accurate one! this one shoots 1/4 inch groups all day. and its not parcial to target ammo. it shoots federal bulk ammo like it shoots lapua master! thats what my wife,s anshutz likes.
 good luck!

Thanks coopershooter. You made up my mind for me.As I said the 702 was $89,what I forgot to add was the Savage was $98.Not much difference in price.I'm going with the fxp.May have to change scope, cuz I rather have one with wide angle optics(old eyes  )...........Rick
