223 Loads
« on: November 25, 2004, 06:32:33 AM »
Going along with my other post, I have a new NEF 223 on the way. I am interested in shooting the heavier bullets 55-60 grainers. What has been your better loads and which heavy bullets does your handi shoot best. Mine is the stainless on and I will most likely get a 243 barrel for it as well. Thanks!
shot placement is everything.

The 63 gr. Sierra SP shoots better than the 52 gr. HPBT for me. Over 25.3 gr. Varget, seated a calibers depth into the case.   This load groups 3/4" on a bad day, 1/2" or better on a good day. Increase or decrease the charge by .2 or so and groups open up dramatically.
Please write me off of GB outdoors, I do not want to be a part of it any more.

Deactivated as requested.

This might not be what you want but...not a handload but the Ultramax 55sp shot pretty well out of mine. They aren't the fastest, in fact they might be the slowest  , but they do shoot well for a 55.
I also know of a deer shot with them and they preformed pretty well. I think the slower speed might keep them from expanding too fast.

btw The 60 gr Nosler Partitions shot like crud form my gun.
