Williams Peep

I went ahead and installed the H&R Williams Peep on my Huntsman.  The front sight looks kinda small in the apeture opening :eek: but I'm gonna give it a go anyway.  Anyone have one on theirs?  Any advice sighting this puppy in?

If you already had the regular rear sight sighted in then it will be very easy and may only require you to take a few verifying shots.

Install your peep, center the front post in the regular rear sight, move the peep so both the rear sight and front post are centered in the peep. Before removing your old rear sight, mark it for future reference. You then can remove the old rear sight and your Peep should be ready for the range with little or no adjustments required. This method will also let you know if you may need a higher front sight for your peep. If you cannot line up the peep with the rear sight and front sight, it will let you know immediately which way you need to go.

When I go to Colorado Elk Hunting, I ALWAYS take my original rear sight that is sighted in and then removed. If I happen to have a slip, fall, bump or break my PEEP I have the original to install and verify my ZERO, or if the peep has been damaged I have a rear sight that has already been sighted in.

I knew there was a step I was forgetting as I removed the old ramp sight, dang it. I actually removed it before I put the peep on.  Should'a asked here first.  I know the front sight is high enough as I can see it in the apeture when the gun is shouldered and level.  I may have to take a few extra shots now to tweak it in but that's part of the fun.  Thanks again.

Ambushhunter, I don't have a Huntsman but I do have a WGRS (with a blade) mounted on my shortened .280 barrel on my Handi. I had to go to a higher front sight and found that the front sight for a H&R .22 Hornet barrel worked out great and was an easy and exact fit and exchange. If you find you need a higher front sight I suggest you try one for the .22 Hornet barrel from H&R. Those are the highest front sights they make for these guns....<><.... :grin:

Thank you sir!!  Didn't make it out with the Huntsman this weekend. Had a  .17 HMR and 20 ga. ultra slug w/ red dot to sight in.  However, it appears that the standard Huntsman front sight will work o.k. I may be wrong when it comes time to shoot it though.  I'll let you know how it works ut when I do sight it.  Best Regards.

Well, I made it to the range with the ol' peep sight installed.  I learned enough to know...........I need a scope.  Didn't care for the peep one bit.  Had  no problem sighting windage.   Elevation was another story.  No matter where on the ramp I placed the aperture, the bullet hit in almost the same spot.  About 5 to 6 inches low at 50 yards.  I moved it back, the bullet hit low, I moved it forward, up the ramp and the bullet hit a little higher.  Finally moved the apeture all the way off the scale, to the front of the ramp and was still hitting low.  I don't get it, maybe I'm doing something wrong??  I was hoping to have this baby tuned in for opening of ML on the 29th.  I'm not ready to give up on it if anybody has any ideas.

I really like the Williams peep on my Sidekick, have it sighted 3" high at 50 with plenty of adjustment left. Can't imagine why yours doesn't have enough adjustment. I shoot 250 grain sabots with 80 of loose 777, how about you? What you shooting for a bullet? Just curious!

I was using a 240 gr. corelokt with 2-50 gr. pyrodex pellets.  I can't figure this out either.
