Webley Scott Patriot ?

Time to buy a new toy. Anyone shooting the Webley Patriot. I'm lookin at a .25 cal.

Well, that seems to be the preferred caliber for it, based on what I've read.

Haven't tried one? Everyone says it the Kodiak. Unfortunately the stores don't carry it. You like to pick one up before buying.

I bought a Beeman Kodiak(Webley Patriot - same thing except the Patriot is a bit cheaper cost wise) in .25 caliber.  About as powerful a springer rifle as you can buy.  Excellent accuracy and very well made.  You get one make darn sure the scope you mount on it is designed for "magnum velocity" springer rifles.  Stay away from Bushnell Banner or Simmons Pro-Air models as these are designed for medium velocity(500 - 650 fps.) springer rifles.  It was my Kodiak that trashed a Leupold scope(not one designed for “magnum powered” springer rifles) before I could finish sighting it in.  Make sure the mount you get is a good one(BLK or Beeman(stay away from B-Square)) and adjustable for windage, elevation.  The Patriot has power to let you take critters up to Jack Rabbit size out to 70(+/-) yards.  Later if you want you can add a gas-ram conversion and turn it into a Crow Magnum want-to-be.  By the way I traded my Kodiak in on a Crow Magnum that I ended up selling to my son.  Lawdog

I think I know the answer but I'll ask anyway. Was the Crow Magnum worth it? It has to be an awfually sweet shooter. I'm looking for a hunting gun. My RX2 hammers squirrels but as I'm sure you know "one gun is never enough".

Was the Crow Magnum worth it?

Yes, because they were both the same caliber(.25) the Crow Magnum being a gas-ram doesn't take a set like a springer can.  I sold that Crow Magnum III to my son and bought me a .20 caliber Crow Magnum IV.  The only bad part about the Crow Magnum is if you are doing a lot of shooting you end up with your arms looking like Popeye's(60 lb. cocking effort   :eek: ).  Lawdog
