Any H&R Target Model Rifle owners out there?
« on: November 25, 2004, 03:55:29 PM »
Thinking of getting one of these 35-55's and was wondering if anyone here has one and what you think of it.  I'm already set up for loading 38-55 for BPCR and this would be used as a hunting rifle.  I am guessing I'd have to get a new mold since from what I've found out so far they have a pretty slow rate of twist but thats just fine for whitetails.

Wondering what the chamber length is, who makes their barrels and an owners overall impression of the rifle itself in regards to fit and finish, accuracy and suggested loads, etc.  Any and all of that good stuff.

Thanks much for any help,

Billy

Billy, my shooting partner has one, and it is a pleasure to shoot. We haven't cast the chamber yet, so I don't have any particulars. Using gun show reloads with cast bullets at .379 he gets 1.5 to 2 inch groups at 100 yds with the peep sights.
I assume they are getting the barrels from Marlin, someone will correct me if they have different information. After shooting some med-heavy loads from the 45-70, it is a joy to pick yp the 38-55 and give your shoulder a break.
