Has anyone shot the aquila 60 grainers in a Romainian 69?
« on: January 25, 2003, 03:08:05 PM »
Has anyone tried these in the Romainian Trainers? I am wondering how they shoot in these. I know the rifleing is really nice in these trainers I took mine to my gun smith and he bore scoped it and said the rifling looked as nice or nicer than some of the match barrels he has installed. Now I am sure the chamber might be a different story but at least the rifling is noce in these guns must be why you hear the good reports on them. Jim
Said I never had much use for one, never said I didn't know how to use it.

but not in the Romanian Trainer.  I have used them in the hunter bore NRA Silhouette competition and I can say that out of a ten inch contender barrel they do about 950fps at the muzzle and will knock down the heavy half sized rams if you hit them high or on the front leg.  I have also shot them at the same targets from a Marlin 39A with a 23" barrel and they get about 900fps and still knock down the same rams with about the same kind of shots.  the bullet drop is about 18 inches, compared to about 6 inches with regular hi speed LR ammo.

You can only hit the target if the barrel is pointed in the right direction when the bullet leaves the barrel.
