inorder for us to help we will need to know what hulls, primers, wads and the slugs you have on hand.

when reloading shotshells you ahve to stay very close to what the books say or pressure will go up fast.

I had asked a similar request of this forum about reduced 12ga loadings.  we generlly agreed that as long as you use the proper charge weight as that of your slug it is possible to safely use light field/target loading data.  But remember to follow the recipies EXACTLY, no substitutions, no adding more or less powder than what is listed.  Shotguns operate on the low end of the pressure spectrum, so they can be real finniky.  Drop 5 grains from an already low powder recipie and you will be clearing wads from the bbl.  So try some of the powder manufacturers websites.  They usually have plenty of ree data.  Pick out a target load in the proper weight and see if it meets your velocity requirements and give it a go.
I would highly suggest that if you have the money to do so get a better press.  I have a Lee loader in 12ga.  Ive come to detest it.  I will soon be getting a Mec Jr to replace it.  I would even recomend a used Mec from E-Bay before a brand new Lee, thats how much I dont like mine.

You should get a copy of the Lyman Shotshell reloading manual.  In addition to explaining the shotshell reloading process, it will help with component identification, and contains lots of loading data, including slugs.  I also concur in the recommendation to get a MEC instead of the Lee loader.  I've tried both and the MEC is the winner hands down.  Plus it will have better resale value if you change your mind about reloading.

brown-trout,
Try Ballistic Products.  They specialize in shotgun loading components.  They offer a paperback slug loading manual.  BP carries all of the components that you would need to load using their data.
I don't have their address, but a search should turn them up.
Hope this helps.

The Lee Load-All works fine for slug experiments although I will agree it ain't much for other uses. The easiest, cheapest, and generally the best approach is the cast round ball. Lee sells a .575 RB mould cheap and that will fit right into a 20 gauge shotcup. If you get lucky, you may be able to find cast or swaged RBs of that size at your local gun store for the muzzle loader crew. (I checked. Hornady sells swaged .570 RBs. That's close enough for this.)

That ball weighs right about 5/8 oz, but you will need to put a little filler and a bit of paper on top to get a crimp. Grits will do just fine for the filler and bring the weight up a bit so use 3/4 oz data. If you have to use 7/8 oz data, you might add just enough fine bird shot to get your total weight up to that. Three #4 Buck would do it, too and should let you skip the grits.

My work has been done in 12 gauge, but the principle is the same. The shotcup acts as a patch to make the ball fit the choke and drops off once out the muzzle.
It is the duty of the good citizen to love his country and hate his gubmint.

One of my favorite reduced slug loads for the 12 ga. and lyman 525 gr. slugs is 23 grs. unique, reminginton STS hulls, W 209 primers, WAA12F114 wads. Also the remington sport hulls you get at wallmart load the same as the STS or primier hulls- I pick them up at the local range by the 5 gal. bucket! ( black or green hulls). When in doubt, cross section one to make sure. Also for really cheap fun to shoot loads for the defender, i cast the slugs hard with plain wheel weights. Just dont use hard cast in a choked barrel! These loads are light recoiling, and go about 1200 fps. :D

Yep, get the Layman Shot sell Manual, alot of get info on what your looking for plus data on external blistics plus all the shot shell data you`ll ever need. Alos don`t use wheel weights for hunting ammo. They are way to hard. Use only puer lead for casting slug, especially foster type. With haeder lead the skirts will not expand to bore size and they will not be accurate at any range.
