Hello ladies and gentlemen;

I am brand new to cannon so this will be a real learning experience for me.  I do have some BP weapons and shoot 54 cal Hawkins percussion and flint.  Going to get my mind set on the no patch thing with cannons.

For my first try, I have an English Swivel Gun 30"  104lbs with a seamless sleeved bore of 1 5/8 (Hern) on the way (Hope it gets here by Christmas).
Just getting the barrel now and will try making a carriage myself.  If it turns out good will post pictures.

I hope yall can point me in the right direction.  My number one rule is always safety.

Little back ground on me.  I have collected a good many years.  Really into the collecting a little more than the shooting but I do like to shoot. Target mostly.  Newest interest have been  AR50 and belt fed 1919a4 semi and now cannon.  Life member SASS.  Life member VFW.
Life member Texas State Rifle Association.  Benefactor member NRA.  Living in South Texas.

Well, enough about me.  I will see what my new toy looks like when it arrives and be back with a bunch of questions like a newby as they come up.  I lurked here a couple of days and really like the looks of your postings.  I like being in the company of Ladies and Gentlemen.

Sorry this was so long.  I'm not usually this mouthy.  One question I have now is, anyone know where I can order lead mould to fit the 1 5/8' bore?

Steve

GS -

Welcome!  Sounds like quite a toy.

There are several here that will give you advise on where to pick up a mould - from their EXPERIENCE.

Lookin' forward to action pictures!

grape shot that is the barrel I have now.
It is a very good barrel.
I have some suggestions for you as to the Herns Barrel. PM me and I will send you some information on it.
What type of carriage are you going to put your barrel on? Naval or Field?

Here is my first post here as I am new here too.

grape shot....Glad to see another new cannon shooter on this site.  This Graybeard website has to be my favorite of all that  I peruse.  I too have a .50 but it's the AMAC.
And I tend to do more collecting than actual shooting but I enjoy both.
Welcome aboard!  Blaster (Bob in CO) :D
