Well after much reading and hand wringing, I bought the Omega in blue/synthetic this weekend. Topped it off with a Nikon real tree 2-7x32. I am going to range this weekend to start getting it dialed in.

I would love to have gotten the thumbhole model, but it was hard to spend that kind of money. I called Richards' micro-fit to see if they made a laminated stock's for the Omega, and the do not. The CSR asked me to send his boss an email stating my interest, and that they would look into the feasibility of developing one.

The thumbhole stock is NICE. The only complaint I had was that the front sling stud mounting point is a weak point in the design and mine had to be repaired 3 times to get it right. I don't know if other Omega stock designs share this problem or not.
I had to bed my stock to get best accuracy too, but now it is a fine weapon.

you will learn to like the omega very much, have had mine for a year, took a little time to find the load it liked, but i found it. they all shoot different (most ML). you have to find what each and every one likes and you like.

If I was not such a Encore fan, the Omega would of been my choice of M/L. Just a great gun.

I too bought the Omega this weekend- stainless laminated for me. LOOOONG way from my old .45 Poorboy flint!! Tried the TC Shockwave sabot and ran into the "need a hammer" loading pressure- swabbing after each shot! I am going to try the powerbelts and see if that helps.

Congrats. I too one day would like to own an Omega *drifts into dreamlike state* :roll: OH....damn....just a dream. Good luck with it. I've heard a lot of good things about them.

I just bought a T/C Omega synthetic stock, blued barrel tonight, I can't wait to shoot it. Still looking for a scope to put on it though.

I have a stainless Omega with synthetic camo stock. I have done a lot of trying and testing and can save you guys a lot of time and trouble and expense as I had the same tight barrel symptom. I tried several powders and decided the following. Tripple Seven is not a good powder for the Omega in stock form. If you spend the $60 for the .25ACP conversion it is somewhat usable. Using the coolest 209 primers also helps but the sharp recoil with 777 turns me off as well as the crud ring that never completely goes away. Pyrodex is OK but pretty dirty, real black is the same. American Pioneer powder is better but the real good stuff is Black Mag3. I will not use anything else now that I found it. Now for bullets. Hornady bullets work OK if you throw the sabots that come with them away and replace them with harvester (thinner wall) sabots. Powerbelt bullets work great. I get good groups and they load real easy. If I shoot Black Mag3 I can load multiple shots without a swab between shots and the accuracy does not suffer. If you can not get Black Mag3 my next recommedation is American Pioneer Powder but get the fffg not ffg. Same thing with pyrodex use the finer grain one. Black Mag3 will produce higher muzzle velocity than the same volume of ffg 777 and the recoil is less sharp and a lot more comfortable. Keep loads in the 110gr. or less. I shoot 80-90gr. of Black Mag3 with 300gr. bullets for elk. Makes complete pass through with Hornady SST or 295gr. Powerbelt aerotip. If you are shooting deer I would not use the aerotip unless you are planning on shooting 200 yards or more. I limit my shots to 110 yards. I've had my stainless sythetic Hardwoods Omega for two years. My groups at 100 yards with two 50 grain Pyrodex pellets, and 295 grain copperclad HP Powerbelts run about 2 -3 inches off of shooting sticks. Sabots are too hard to load and make too much of a mess in the barrel for me. I bought some sabots and bullets when I bought the rifle. Fired three of them - still have the rest. I put a Nikon Prostaff 2x7x32 camo scope in leopold QR rings on it last year. Shoots great. It is all the muzzle loader I will ever need.
