Finally decided to try some Pyrodex in my 45-70.....after some prompting and "how to's" from a member on here ( Thanks Montanan :D ) I went to the range today and gotta say...I'M HOOKED!!!! Took the FrankenClassic and the Browning 1885 Highwall. Started out by sighting in the scope on the FrankenClassic using the Unique powder loads(My Favorite) with 405 grain bullets and then went to the BP loads...geez!!! Those are a hoot!! Not only that but I shot a 3 shot group that was about 1-1/2" but about 12 to 13 inches high on the 100 yard target. I loaded the BP loads with 300 grain bulletsw/GC's...same as I use with smokless powder. Not the correct bullets or lube for black Powder use!! I was really surprised at the group also!!! What a hoot!!! Big boom and the target dissapears from the smoke!! hahaha Got home and already ordered a special powder drop funnel and some wads and also a special die for compressing the powder in the case and some 500 grain bullets from my buddy up in Ohio with the correct lube in them...Yeee Hawww! :mrgreen:  Now look what you've gone and done Montanan!! :roll:

Oh you got a sickness now that there is no cure for, but more shooting and creating smoke and lots of it.  Wait till some nic crisp moring and you blow a large smoke ring  :-D

I'm glad the information helped you out, and got you hooked like a fish after bait  :D
