A friend just got a .243 NEF rifle for his son for deer and feral hogs.  Any recommendations/comments on ammo to try or to avoid?

thanks!!

The 100 grain factory stuff for thin skinned deer size game should work just fine. I've had good luck with it :D ....Van

Ditto.  The 100 grain factory stuff is a good place to start.  I've shot several deer with the cheap remington core-loct 100 grain numbers with good results.

.243? I'm thinking of adding a 20" .243 youth barrel to my sb2 frame.
I would use as a takedown in my pack. Any problems with the shorter
barrel? Of course I would do the quick ring or base deal on the scope.
How does accuracy hold up, with the on and off scope deal?
From my vantage 100 corelokd shoot best even in my Remington MR.

I haven't used the Leupold QRW rings, but have read of many that do and they really like em, zero changes 1/4" at 100yds at the most. They are the most recommended quick chage rings that I've read of. The warne rings are also spoken highly of, but I've seen less written on them, maybe only cuz they aren't as well known.
