You might try takeing a rat carcus and tieing it to a stake about 1 foot out from the bank and setting your trap between it and the bank.

Use a bucket cubby set with either a foot trap connected to a drowning wire or use a 110, 120 or 160 conibear. Camoflauge it a little with brush so it isn't so noticable to thieves. If that isn't an option, move up or down stream a little and find a suitable location for a pocket set. Worm

Digging out a nice visible pocket for a set should get their attention.  Using a good mink lure in the pocket really improves the chance the mink will go in to investigate.  Ace

Simple.  Just take half a cinder blockand lay it on its side in the water so the hole is exposed on either side.  then one trap on each side should do it.  They will not be able to pass it with out checking it out to see what in the hell it is.  a little lure never hurts either.  to further enhance put a small bundel of grass or weeds in the hole.  you can also wire your traps to block and make a tangle stick in the water to drown the mink.  also the drag is heavy enough for a coon if you get one.  I used to make sets like this specifically for coon but kept catching mink in them as well with out knowing why.  then an old times told me that the mink would have to check out the hole.

Hey bbeavereater, never heard of the cement block set.  It sounds great, can't wait to try one out.  Thanks!  Ace
