Custom Spikehorn?
« on: December 15, 2004, 03:52:18 PM »
I'm new here and looking to buy my first Marlin.  I can't leave well enough alone and like the look of the Spikehorn.  Anybody done anything with this.  All I need is a carbine capable of about 150 yards, I have bolt actions for the longer stuff.  I have a couple areas that I hunt that the bolt actions just aren't suited, and I found that out the hard way this year.  What I am thinking is the Spikehorn with something like a 2-7X32 or straight 4X or 6X in Leupold quick release rings and mounts.  Also a Sims Vibrations grind to fit pad, and replace the factory sights with some type of fiber optic.  Eventually I would like to get the WWG oversized loop but I don't see any advantages to it other than asthetics.  Does anyone know anything about the accuracy of this model?  Well let me know what you think and thanks in advance.

OKhunter,  I have a new spikehorn topped with a new Burris compact 4x that is great gun provided the short stock fits you.  One option is to buy it with the youth stock and if you're not comfortable, then put on the full size stock.  You will still have the advantage of the short barrel and no gun smithing costs.  See PM-Gary
