Peep sight for a Contender
« on: December 08, 2004, 06:05:17 AM »
I've been tossing around the idea of throwing a peep sight on top of the old contender.  Does anyone currently use one, and if so what brand do you use, what is the most dependable, how good do they work, what is their effective range, etc.

So far all I have found is the Williams style that mounts, I believe, to the side of the frame??? and some type of peep that will fit on a weaver base. Are there any peeps that will mount directly to the 4 mount holes?
Barrel in question is a 14" Bull in .375 Win.

Thanks
flyfisher
How'd you like a peek at my 14-incher? (Contender, that is)

Flyfisher,
I have two sets of aftermarket sights for the Contender/Encore.  They both are Williams and they both fit in the 4 screw holes for the regular TC sights.

One sight has a peep hole and the other has a squared blade rear with the notch.  I prefer this one at long range 'cause I can keep it level easier.

The peep is OK out to a couple hundred yards or closer.

They both work great.  I have target knobs on mine for ease of adjustments.

TC used to sell a peep sight that used the scope mount holes on the barrel, don't know if they still have them or not. You could check their website.

It would depend, I think, on whether you are talking pistol or carbine/rifle. Brownell lists a WRGS for the Contender (out of stock :( ) and one for the Encore.

I had no luck looking at the Williams site.

 But, you might contact them.
Then there's XS sight systems (used to be Ashley Outdoors)

You might need a different front sight, too. HTH.
