My Cannon Arrived!!
« on: December 09, 2004, 02:53:46 PM »
My Daniel King howitzer from SBR arrived by UPS today and all I can say is SWEET!   :-D  I mailed my order to them on 11/26 and the tube was shipped on 11/6. Great service. Mr. Barnett is a class act.

I already have a sponge, rammer and worm made for it and tomorrow it’s a trip to the lumberyard for carriage material. For only being 17” long, this thing is heavy. You wouldn’t think by looking at it that it weighed 65 pounds. I’ll try to post some photos in the next few days.

As an interesting note, the paperwork that came with it lists loads for their full depth tubes by bore diameter. These are foil wrapped BLANK loads of 1Fg by weight with NO wadding. It states that when firing a ball, these loads should be reduced by one half.

1/2" – 60gr
5/8” – 110gr
3/4" – 140gr
1” – 1 oz
1 1/4” – 1 1/4 oz
1 1/2” – 2 oz
2 1/4” – 3 oz
1 3/4” – 4 oz
3” – 6 oz

CAV Trooper....you are correct, Mr. Paul Barnett is a class person.  I arrived at his house earlier this year, about 7:30AM (a half hour before I was scheduled to get there).  When I pulled up in his driveway, he came out immediately and spent about 45 minutes with me checking out a cannon tube that I had brought over for his inspection.  He was very friendly and wouldn't accept any payment for his time.  A good business man and I'll be getting more stuff from him in the near future.  Hope you have good luck in building the carriage and we are anxious to see a picture of the completed project.
