I was just wondering about the sportster sl. Do you pull the bolt back to load another bullet or does it do it by itself? I'm asking because I don't know   I was thinking about getting one. And is it  a .22 only? Can you get it in 22 mag?

Tommy01,
The Sportster (SS1-022 and SS1-M22) as a 22 rimfire comes in 22 Long Rifle and 22 Win Mag.
The single-shot break-open rifle is finished in low-profile matte blue and features a weather-proof black matte high-density polymer Monte Carlo stock and fore-end with swivel studs.  The Sportster includes a scope base as standard equipment and includes an offset hammer extension for easy cocking when a scope is installed.  Weight 5 1/2 lbs. w/ 20" barrel.
Also available in the new 17 Magnum rimfire.

do yourself a favor and get a ruger 10/22 or one of the marlins rather than the sportster sl if you want a semi-auto. the sportster is a chinese import. you can get the marlins and rugers pretty cheap.

if a single shot works for ya, the regular sportsters are great. specs per above entry.

I'd have to agree; I like my NEF's, but they're all single-shot. I'm not sold AT ALL on the auto import they offer. For $165 I got a base model Ruger 10/22, and it shoots under an inch at 50yds. The advantage I see in the NEF single-shot rifles is that you can shoot 22 short, long, and lr in the same gun. But if you want an auto, check out a Ruger; they're built very well and with what you don't spend buying new NEF's you can go broke modifying the Ruger.

i have a 20+ year old marlin 60 tubefeeder that still shoots good. it's kinda like an old junkyard dog now, with its' share of dings, gouges, etc, but it still feeds perfectly and shoots any el-cheapo brand with no hiccups.

i'm not sure what they cost now but it definitely earned its' keep.

the ruger 10/22 is a good gun (got a few of them) but it's like buying a stripped down harley, you will definitely go broke buying all the aftermarket doo-dads for it and in a few months the only original ruger part on the gun will be the receiver !

The Rugers are good shooters and very reliable right out of the box. And if you like to tinker and have the dough they can be made into great shooters with dozens of aftert market parts manufacturers making goodies for them.   A basic 10/22 Carbine can be had for around $150 at Waly-World or Dick's, etc. and the new 10/22 Rifle version with an adult rifle sized stock and longer barrel goes for about $40 more I believe.

I tend to agree with the others...10/22 0r a Marlin auto....unless one wants to spring for the TC Classic...
Has anyone seen the CZ 511s around..?? they should be "prima".
