anybody know where to purchase sling studs?

i need to find a place to purchase sling studs or mounts to put a sling on my sons ruger redhawk in ss
any recomendations?

Unfortunately the options are limited.  I have replaced the grips on my Ruger with Hogue and swapped the retaining screw for a sling stud.  However, the front stud presents the problem.  I tried barrel bands from Midway for use on a SBH, but there is not enough grip.  I tried placing a piece of rubber from an inner tube in the band but that failed also.  The band would not stay tight.  I eventually removed the band and use a slip knot and loop the sling around the barrel.

w4dsb:  I would take a look at Uncle Mike's (Michael's of Oregon) barrel band set-ups, they might have one that would fit the barrel of the Ruger.  These are 3/4 bands that tighten onto the barrel so you might be able to find something there that could work.  

As for the grip stud - I'm at a loss there.  I wouldn't recommend modifying the revolver like a military pistol, with a sling swivel off the bottom of the butt but I wonder if someone doesn't make a spring steel clip that could slide under the gip, sort of like a Tyler T-Grip for small and medium frame revolvers or if you could do something like that yourself or have a gunsmith work one up for you.  Just a thought but HTH.  Mikey.

Thanks for the info. It has the hogue grips already and i was thinking about using the screw in the bottom of the grip for the rear but was at a loss for the front stud , i'll measure the barrel dia. and see if i can see something that will be close.

Don't know what your budget is or where you live, but Magnaport and SSK have been adding sling swivel studs to revolvers for quite awhile. Check with them.
