?Replacement sights for the Huntsman?
« on: December 11, 2004, 12:36:38 PM »
Does anyone know which model (if any) of Williams or Marble sights will fit as a direct replacement on the Huntsman?  I don't particularly care for the fiber optic sights, I much prefer the "partridge" style of the Tracker II slug barrel.

Williams makes the following sights:

WGRS-H&R - This peep sight has 1" hole spacing which is too large for the original factory sight location, but will fit on the first two holes that were meant to mount the scope base.  The added bonus would be a longer sight radius and better accuracy!

FP-H&R - This sight (more expensive) was meant for the Buffalo Classic and Handi Rifles, but I would guess it was also fit the Huntsman.

You can download the 2004 Williams catalog at http://www.williamsgunsight.com/catalog.htm

Ashley Outdoors, Now XS Sight Systems has a great EXPENSIVE Ghost Right sight combination.  The information is at http://www.expresssights.com/detail.lasso?id=12592321

Hope this helps.

:D Thanks, dwk!
I can get the WGRS-HR from Brownells for a small fee.
This is what I was trying to find out.  The WGRS in the 1st 2 holes for the scope mount is an excellent position for a peep sight.
Raynor says to use the original front sight. I won't be parting with either of the original sights.
We are in the middle ot ML season right now, so this would be for a winter project work up, along with my 7mm-08, 22 Hornet........

offhand35,

You are welcome.  If you to see how the WGRS sight looks mounted on a huntsman/handi rifle you might read Junior Doughty's article 'Black Powder 45-70 Handi-Rifle' which can be found at http://www.castbullet.com/shooting/1871.htm

There are several good pictures of the WGRS sight mounted on a handi rifle, along with lots of interesting reading.
