Sportster ammo question
« on: December 10, 2004, 11:31:55 AM »
I see where the sportster will shoot Shorts-Longs and Long Rifles. Does this rifle also shoot the 22 Mag cartridge or is this a different rifle? According to the flyer from NEF, it appears the Sportster will shoot all four of the above mentioned rounds. Am I reading this right? If so does accuracy seem to be a problem when mixing and matching without cleaning?

Also does shooting the shorter rounds produce a carbon build up in the chamber or will normal cleaning rectify this possible problem?

Sorry chainsaw, the .22 Mag shoots that shell only. The .22 LR Sportster shoots the .22 short, long, and Long rifle, As well as cb caps, bb caps and Colibris....<><....

I own a 22 mag Sportster and that's all it shoots.....As far as your question of shooting short ammo.....I also have a Marlin bolt action that shoots all 22 ammo,,and the CCI CB shorts do seem to leave a really dirty barrel.

FYI, all 22mag chambers are of different dimensions than the 22 long rifle case, and not just in length.

a common question, i asked it a few days ago -

even though i just ordered a 22 mag barrel, it seems to me that the rimfire rifle engineering community could develop a rifle and cartridge that goes from 22 short to magnum and it all fits into one rifle !
