Fellars: Over on E-bay a fellar gave $155+$10 shipping for a  standard Handi barrel in 7X57, by my bad math that's about $30 over what a new fitted barrel would be (keyword fitted). Oh! yea I was still drooling. Donaldo wondered what good a 7-08 was? Well its an affordable med. cal. for those of us that have a bunch of 7M/M bullets. Have A Good'un :grin: <>< Duce:

it kind of makes you wonder about whats going on :shock: there are some deals on EBAY but there  are things sold there for many $$ more than than what  they should be

Sadly it's common on E-bay.  Folks don't  realize the actual retail price or they get caught up in the last minute frezy to buy.  I remember reading an article by a shrink about the "E-Bay Frenzy".  It boils down to the fact that some folks just don't like to "lose".

$155.00 for a 7x57 barrel...yep...it's more than a regular factory barrel...but ...I don't think you can get a regular 7x57 barrel from NEF can you?...

Nope, can't be had from H&R, it's another of those calibers that H&R decided we didn't like. I think it's worth whatever folks are willing to pay since it's an unavailable caliber. I'd certainly be willing to pay $155+ for a .35 whelen or .338-06. :wink:

H&R no longer make's the 7x57, I have the twin of that barrel, an original 24" Ultra barrel in 7x57 and it's a GREAT shooter...the nearest you can come to it now is the 7mm-08 which is great as well, especially for those of us that like the .284 bullet selection. A bit more power is the .280 Remington barrel. I think the $155.00 for the 7x57 was worth every penney for a great classic caliber Ultra barrel, remember you can't get them anymore. Also how much would it cost for a new  Ultra barrel to be fitted to your frame at the factory, with new fee's and shipping both ways, and remember this caliber is a great one that is no longer available. It was advertised as being in excellent shape with few rounds through it, so all in all, well worth the price for those that wanted it, I was going to bid on it myself but thought that I had one, not much cash right now, and let someone else get it...they are very hard to find....<><.... :grin:

I can tell you exactly how much my new 308 Bull barrel cost...$118.00 total...and that's all of their fitting fee's and shipping cost included...

I...Love it...it would be nicer if it were cheaper...but...it's still not something I'll P&M over...heck...if that were the case...we all should be walking instead of driving for the cost of a gallon of gas these days.....I was driving when it cost $.028 a gallon..... :twisted:

For all that's said and done(IMHO)...they are still the best value for our hard earned $$$$$ bar none...

Yup, I remember when I started driving in the early '60s we had gas wars, gas went for as low as 19.9¢ a gallon for regular and we even had the good stuff, ethel back then!  Then in '74, oh boy!!! Burgers were .19¢ each and........ :cry:

Yup quickdtoo, I remember putting a dollar's worth of gas(20 cents a gal.) in the old '56 chevy, picking up my girlfriend (and some of her girlfriends :grin: ). We would drive the 20 miles to the county seat just to go to McKonald's (yep that was the name of the place not mcDonald's) and pay another 1.00 for 10 burgers. Then take in a movie at the drive-in after sneaking half the group in. Man we were "rich" back then.

RICH!!   not at one $1 per hour working at the burger stand.....(.next to Ky lake campground., btw)

Boy does that bring back memories! I remember gas at 25 cents a gallon ( 24.9 cents per gallon really) and .19 cent hamburgers, don't get much better than that...I never wanted to sneak in the Drive-in in the trunk, but do fondly remember driving through the woods to the hill behind the Drive-in and watching for nothing!!!....<><.... :grin:
