2005 H+R/NEF Offerings

Has anybody heard any rumors, or better yet, some good insider info on what to expect this coming year from H+R/NEF? I haven't seen anything in the gun rags.

The only sure thing is the release of the 500 S&W caliber. :o

If you can predict the future based on the past, I'm sure that Handi .500 S+W will come with a steel butt plate. Maybe even with some sharpened studs sticking out.

quickdtoo,
Here I thought you were pulling my leg when you first posted that. I'm shocked! That sure would one up the .44 mag. Handi. What kind of interest do you see for this rifle? It's peaked mine. If it runs the same as other Handi's, it should be a $185 Wally World rifle. You could buy three of these and have change left over for the cost of the S+W .500 revolver.

I think some are looking to potentially bigger and better things.....50-90, .50-110, 50 Alaskan, for a start!

Not a new caliber for H&R but they show a .204 with what looks like it will be a 24" barrel in what they list as H&R SB2-F20 ULTRA VARMINT 204 24FL SYN. They also list a .223 and .22-250 in this also. From the retail price I wonder if these are going to be stainless or have the new Choate varmint stock.

A .204 with a 24" barrel almost makes me wish I didn't already have a .223...almost.

It looks like they are coming out with an over/under and auto shotgun:

Hey that FL in the description means Fluted Barell.  H&R will have a line of Ultra Varmit rifles with fluted 223, 22-250 or 204 barells.  Would be really cool to see fluted stainless barells.  I presume this first line are blued for now.  BuzzKill

what I want to see, and it wont happen, is for more choices to end up in the barrel acc program.  Now, you can only add a basic chambering.

Cool, never thought of the FL being flutes but that makes sense.
I sure hope they are getting better with QC if they are going to be adding flutes and such to guns. They would seem to be claiming these are an accurate gun or it wouldn't add much.
It will be neat to see but as they get higher in price they have more competition with some other well made guns.

Unless I'm mistaken, that site also shows a few more rifles will be available in laminate stocks. Looked like the rifles with iron sights.

Quick I am with you on the straight comb stock. If they offered a straight comb stock in the cinnamon laminate that was checkered,my uv .223 would have one on it.I hate those montecarlo combs, they make my line of sight above my scope. The straight stocks fit to my cheek better.

7.62X39
« Reply #16 on: December 14, 2004, 02:51:10 PM »
I spoke with Gordon at NEF today around 4 pm. He told me the 7.62X39 would be available as an accessory barrel "after the first of the year". I'm figgering that means right after they re-open after the New Year holiday. That should make some folks happy. I also put in a plug for the .35 Whelens and Remingtons while I had him on the phone. He said he'd pass it along.
