Tikka .223 Happy Now
« on: September 26, 2004, 01:40:46 PM »
Hi, Went this to shoot our new Tikka's. Got three new Leupold scopes for them. The two 22-250's have been shooting under 1" tightened to .5" with hornady today. The .223 was  frustating  me a little with not very many holes ever touching. Then my wife shot a three shot group under .5" with the cheapest black hills ammo we were using just as break in. Then I shot in the same group with a different black hills ammo.  It wandered a bit with heat-up then. The .223 is still tight and needs a few more rounds. Am certain I can get under 3/8 with 250's using hornady.

Tripod I think you own my next rifle a Tikka .223 or Maybe a CZ.  I have my first Tikkas this year and I am really impressed.  That Sako barrel is the anchor of all the accuracy however I also like their looks, Wood and Blue,( Old School).  Best of luck with The Varmints!!!  Buckfever

Buckfever I hope you can swing it. A little caution on the CZ. As I've said a CZ burned me last week. First the bolt comes very close to the scope once mounted. Not the best for cold weather stuff for me. Next see if you can fill the clip and chamber some rounds. On mine this was very difficult and I saw physical evidence on the bolt and two corners on the receiver started shining and rounding. All in just a few rounds. Too bad since it was for my wife. The gun looked good and even shot extremely accurately. So as fate would have it, one more Tikka. The Tikka bolt just skips a round out of the clip and chambers it like a dream.

Tripod thanks for the info on the CZ.  Your information and the backwards safety helped me make my decision.  Thanks  Buckfever

I'm glad you got something out of it. This forum and others along with a few reviews steered me to Tikka. First one then two and three now thinking about four. Have dumped all my Remingtons Rugers(except handguns) and Winchesters. From the start I know the clip will work correctly and quietly. The bolt will chamber a round smoothly and quietly. The safety will move short easy and quietly. the trigger adjusted to 2 lbs is clean and who cares if it is quiet the job is done because it is so accurate one shot is all it takes then the fun is over. One friend said your gun is no fun I'd rather shoot my Remington and if i don't hit then i get to shoot again.

If the CZ was not properly put in the stock right it will do that, I have one in the kevlar stock and it had trouble chambering rounds, I loosened the action screws and reseated the action and everything works now.
Just my experience.

Hi, We tried the fit and a few other things on the CZ. When we returned it to the gun store they were not surprised and of course tried about the same procedure. We kind of mutually thought it might be a combo of the clip and poor bolt fit. Any way it's history and no such problems with the Tikka's.
