Rem. Copper Solid 20 Gauge slugs??
« on: December 14, 2004, 06:09:31 AM »
Can anyone tell me how Remington Copper Solid 20 Gauge slugs or Winchester BRI 20 gauge slugs work on deer? (on game performance). I will be going on a shotgun only hunt in January and I will be using my new Mossberg 500C 20 gauge which shoots well with both of these slug loads (the only two I tried). I stocked up on both of them with the same lot #.

(Long story short)
Which of these two slugs would you choose to load up?

I helped my sister in law get her two 20 gauges up and running a few years ago.  The Copper solids shot the best out of her Remington 870, the H&R SB2 likes the BRI's better.  Long story short, the 20 gauge BRI's are worthless from what I can tell on deer.  Just punches a little tiny hole straight through them and you have a lot of tracking on your hands.  Copper Solids do a much better job.  Winchester Partition Golds are what she uses now in the H&R and they perform excellent on game.
