double rifles
« on: December 18, 2004, 05:07:15 PM »
I was recently looking at a 318WR double rifle. I have always wanted a double rifle, but fear that due to and old shoulder injury I would be unable to stand the recoil of a true heavy rifle. Has anyone owned a double in a medium bore and how satisfied were you with it's performance. Regards, Byron

Doubles and recoil

I have a William Evans chambered for the 400-360.  The subjective recoil is quite mild for the cartridge impulse.  In part because the rifle was made at its natural weight and not a light weight one, and in part because of the excellent stock configuration.  The stock configuration will make a bigger differnce than you might guess.
