COWPOX-TRAPPER PISTOL KIT?

Hey Cowpox, hope you and yours had a great Christmas! How is the Traditions trapper KIt going? How would rate this kit? I realise that it is the Hollidays, but curious about what you think. I ordered the Crockett pistol .32 cal., to go with my Crockett rifle. It has not arrived yet, when it does and I get a chance to shoot it I will try to do some of organized post(not as good as MEC)about this little pistol. The weather here in Wyoming has not been the greatest(35-40mph wind) I am a bad enough shot without the wind assist. May you and yours have the best of New Years..respectfully Montanadan

Thanks for your Holiday Greetings montanadan, I wish all the best to You and Yours. The Season has definitely brought the project to it's knees. I have about two more coats of finish to put on the wood, and I just got an order put together for Track for some things I need for a rifle I'm building. I'm out of Plumb Brown, but am including that in the order. Should have the metal polished and ready by the time it gets here. All the time consuming stuff is done, and once the browning is done, it will take only a few minutes to put it together, and load up ! We are having the same weather as you have. Below zero, and windy. That will have to let up before I want to take my arthritis out to shoot. If it shoots as good as it looks, I'll be picking one up for myself. Been playing with this one until I  hate to give it back to my friend. Getting kind of attached to it. Something will be done about that big trigger spur on mine though. I'll let you know how it shoots as soon as I give it a range test. Happy New year, Cowpox

Thanks for the respnse. I forgot to tell you that GPR adjustable sight works on Tradtions(with a little modification).I put one my Traditions Penn rifle. Just hate that rear sight(pistol has the same). Trigger spur?(hope I got that right) may or may not be good thing?(easy to modify) Talked to guy in Calif.(good weather) has two of the trappers one in flint, one in percussion. Said they both shoot extemely well,said the flinter sparks all the time, even won a club match with one. Thanks again...Best of New Years..Montanadan

Sorry montanadan, I threw you a slider. I forgot to include the word "guard". I meant that finger spur on the back of the trigger guard. I don't care for the way my middle finger is pressed against it if I try to ignore it, and it don't seem comfortable when I hook a finger on it. Maybe in time I would get used to it, but for right now, it seems in the way for me. I'm pretty sure that it will be removed if I decide to get one. I do kind of like this one, and I have been thinking about getting one for a back up for deer hunting. My favorite black powder post is right between a cornfield and  a swamp that is full of sinkholes and hummocks. A couple of years ago I had one chased out of the corn by another hunter. He came right by me about twenty yards away. Hit him right were you are hoping to when you pull the trigger, and he did a real nice somersault. but crappie-flopped his way back onto his feet while I was trying to get another load in. He was well hit, but managed to make it out in that swamp about 60 yards before he died. I never want to drag one out of that again! The hummocks are the perfect distance apart, that he would get wedged between them. If you tried to drag him over the top, He would slip off and get stuck between again. I never knew 60 yards could be that far!  If I would have had a pistol for an insurance shot, I may have kept him from getting to the swamp. I have a half dozen cap and ball revolvers, including a Walker, but they aren't legal here, in fact, I just found out a month ago, that the single shots are legal, or I would have been carrying one for the last two years.  Cowpox
